Step back in time to the interwar years and discover the radical changes in women's fashion in Melbourne. This exhibition showcases how local designers responded to the exuberance of the 1920s and the challenges of the Great Depression in the 1930s. Set within the elegant and historic Villa Alba Museum, the display offers a unique glimpse into fashion history.
Visitors will enjoy viewing exquisite garments in the museum’s drawing room, dining room, and ballroom, featuring 1920s styles. Upstairs, former bedrooms display 1930s fashion and design, including a special collection from Georges of Collins Street. The exhibition includes items from the nationally significant Kew Historical Society costume collection and private loans.
This event is perfect for parents looking to engage their school-aged children with history, design, and culture in a beautiful setting.
