Dive into a vibrant celebration of children's creativity and cultural storytelling at the K-Publishing book launch. This event showcases a stunningly unique book, "The Krazy Quest for the Best 김치 / 김치 대소동," authored and illustrated by children who participated in the Korean Art and Book Making program. Families will enjoy readings by the young authors, an exhibition of original artworks, and a behind-the-scenes video.
Children and families can also create their own 8-page book and have it published on the spot, making this a hands-on and memorable experience. Copies of the featured book will be available for purchase, with authors ready to sign your copy.
This event warmly welcomes all, celebrating Korean culture through folktales, food, music, language, and art, encouraging every child to belong and express themselves.
The launch takes place on Saturday, 25 July, from 13:30 to 15:30 at the Immigration Museum. The program includes live readings, an art exhibition, and interactive book-making activities.
The event is free for adults, children aged 16 and under, and members of Museums Victoria. It is supported by Museums Victoria, the Australian Government, and partners including Kids’ Own Publishing and Associate Professor Julie Choi from the University of Melbourne.
This project emphasizes Arts-Rich Translanguaging Pedagogy, empowering children as experts of their own experiences and cultures through artistic expression.
The event is held at the Immigration Museum, located at 400 Flinders Street, Melbourne. The museum is open daily from 10:00 to 17:00.
Accessibility support is available, including sensory maps and step-by-step visual and written guides. Visitors can contact the museum team to discuss any specific access needs.
Public transport options and parking details can be found on the museum’s website to ensure a smooth visit for families.
This event is suitable for families and children interested in arts, culture, and storytelling. It provides a welcoming environment for children from all cultural backgrounds.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage directly with the creative process of book making, fostering a deeper appreciation for language and art.
Please note that while the event is free, booking tickets is recommended due to limited space and to ensure a comfortable experience for all attendees.
Tickets are free for adults, children 16 years and under, and Museums Victoria members. Booking in advance is advised to secure your place.
Copies of "The Krazy Quest for the Best 김치 / 김치 대소동" will be available for purchase at the event, with signing opportunities by the young authors.
