Learning to ride a bike is a milestone every child looks forward to, and the City of Burnside is here to help make that journey safe and fun. This special session is designed for children who are still on training wheels, offering them the confidence and skills needed to ride independently. Perfect for beginners, this event is a wonderful opportunity to build cycling skills in a supportive environment.
This session focuses on essential cycling skills tailored for children from Reception to Year 7 (Sept 2025). Kids will learn balance, control, and safety techniques to help them progress from training wheels to riding solo. The atmosphere is friendly and encouraging, ideal for young riders taking their first steps toward independence.
The event is a single session held during the September school holidays. It is split into two time slots on Tuesday, 30 September 2025: 10:00 to 11:30 and 11:45 to 13:15. Each session is designed to provide hands-on guidance and practice time. Spaces are limited and priority is given to City of Burnside residents, so early booking is essential.
The sessions take place at Newland Reserve Tennis Courts, located at 46 Lockwood Road, Erindale 5066. The venue is accessible and provides a safe, open space perfect for learning to ride. Parents can easily drop off and pick up their children, ensuring a smooth experience.
Children must be on training wheels and within Reception to Year 7 as of September 2025 to participate. Booking confirmation is required to secure a spot. The event is designed to be fun and educational, with a focus on safety and skill-building. Parents are encouraged to bring their child's bike and helmet.
The cost to attend is $5 per child. Bookings must be confirmed prior to the event to guarantee a place. Given the limited spaces, early registration is recommended to avoid disappointment. For bookings and inquiries, contact Lee-Anne Fleming at 0431 120 802 or via email.
