Step into a world of imagination and creativity with award-winning artist Kate Beynon as she guides you through making magical mask charms. Inspired by the enchanting 'Wall of Magic Creatures' and the Lunar zodiac, this workshop invites children and their parents to explore festive and fantastic beings. Whether you choose to craft a Fire-Horse Qilin, Tudao Dog, or Turtle-Snake Monster, or dream up your own Lunar animal, this session promises a fun and engaging artistic experience.
During the workshop, Kate will share stories behind the Wall of Magic Creatures, offering insight into her inspirations. Participants will learn design, drawing, and craft techniques using card, markers, and yarn to create colorful hanging charms. You can add a positive message to your charm, making it a special gift or a unique lucky charm to hang at home. This activity is perfect for children aged 5 to 12 and their parents or carers, welcoming all guardians to join in the creative fun.
The workshop takes place at the Town Hall Gallery, located at 360 Burwood Road, Hawthorn VIC 3122. The venue is accessible and open for visitors Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, and Saturdays from 12 pm to 4 pm. It’s a welcoming space for families to enjoy art and creativity together in the heart of Hawthorn.
Please note the workshop is suitable for children aged 5 to 12 accompanied by parents or carers. All guardians are encouraged to participate and create lucky charms. Materials such as card, markers, and yarn will be provided. The session runs for 1.5 hours, so please arrive a few minutes early to settle in and prepare for a fun-filled creative experience.
