What to Expect
Step aboard for a rare mid-century modern architectural encounter along the Birrarung River. This exclusive cruise takes you from Richmond Landing to Peter McIntyre’s iconic River House, a stunning example of Australian modernism perched above the riverbank. Arrive as originally intended—by water—rounding a gentle bend before stepping onto this remarkable site.
Suspended among the trees, the house reveals its daring structural form, glass-lined living spaces, and seamless connection to the natural landscape. Enjoy an intimate one-hour guided tour and discover how Peter McIntyre redefined residential design in post-war Melbourne.
This is a rare opportunity to experience a State-significant heritage icon from the river, presented by the City of Boroondara in collaboration with Peter McIntyre.
