What to Expect
After a busy day at school, children will find the perfect space to unwind and reconnect with nature in this engaging after-school program. The Nature Immersion Program encourages kids to move their bodies, explore their imaginations, and play freely in the fresh air surrounded by the beautiful Wollongong Botanic Garden.
Grounded in a child-led, nature-based philosophy, the program supports children to follow their own interests through play while gently introducing them to bush-craft skills, local flora and fauna knowledge, and environmental awareness. This nurturing environment fosters confidence, resilience, and strong social and emotional foundations through cooperative play, storytelling, and hands-on activities.
Activity Details
This program is designed for children aged 5 to 13 years and is NDIS-accessible, welcoming all children with individualised support tailored to their needs. It is a drop-off activity, giving parents and carers a couple of hours to themselves while their children enjoy nature-based fun. Parents are welcome to stay as long as needed to ensure their child feels comfortable and happy.
The sessions run from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm, providing a safe and inclusive community where every child is encouraged to be themselves. Therapy bookings are also available, tailored individually—contact the organisers for details and pricing.
Location and Access
The program takes place at Wollongong Botanic Garden, located at 29 Madoline Street, Keiraville. Participants should meet the Bush Magic team at the Garden's Education Centre (map reference: Q - 8). The closest carpark is also at 29 Madoline Street.
Visitors can plan their visit with information on public transport, parking, and maps available on the Garden's website. The Garden is open daily with free entry, making it an accessible and welcoming location for families.
Important Information
Bookings are essential and can be made via Bookeo. If Bush Magic Adventure Therapy cancels a session, credits will be issued for another session of equal value. However, no refunds or credits are given for absences due to illness or change of mind unless at least 24 hours' notice is provided.
NDIS bookings require at least 48 hours' notice to avoid fees. Credits can only be used within the same term for similar programs. The program fosters a warm, inclusive community where safety and individual needs are prioritized.
Booking and Prices
The cost is $42 per session or $360 for the full term (Term 4, 2025). Places are limited, so early booking is recommended to secure a spot. Therapy sessions have separate pricing and require direct contact with Bush Magic for arrangements.
This program offers a wonderful balance of learning, play, and nature immersion, perfect for parents seeking enriching after-school activities for their children.
