What to Expect
Get ready for an exciting adventure with nature photographer Tom Covell! This workshop offers a unique opportunity to photograph live animals such as spiders, scorpions, leeches, ticks, and cockroaches up close. After a special visit to the Bloodsuckers exhibition, children will learn professional photography techniques to capture these fascinating creatures.
Tom will guide participants on framing the perfect shot, using lighting and angles, and working with shadows to make photos truly stand out. The workshop then moves outdoors to the gardens for a hands-on nature photography expedition, where kids can apply their new skills to insects and towering trees alike.
This experience is designed to inspire children to see the natural world through a photographer’s lens and develop skills they can use anywhere. Participants should bring their own camera, tablet, or phone, though some iPads will be available to borrow.
