Discover the joy of gardening while helping to strengthen biodiversity in your local neighbourhood. This event offers a wonderful opportunity for families to collect free indigenous plants that are perfect for backyard gardens. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just starting out, you’ll find plants that attract butterflies and provide habitat for small animals and insects.
You can choose from a variety of native species including the Showy Podolepis, Grass-leaved trigger plant, and Austral stork’s bill. Each plant is selected for its beauty and ecological benefits, making this giveaway a great way to contribute to a greener environment.
Bring your family along for a morning of outdoor fun and learning, and take home a piece of nature to nurture in your own garden.
The Plant Giveaway will be held on Sunday, 24 May 2026, from 10:00 to 12:00. The event is free to attend, and plants will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis. It’s a perfect weekend activity for parents looking to engage their children with nature and gardening.
Participants will be able to select from indigenous shrubs, groundcovers, and lilies, each chosen to support local wildlife and biodiversity. Volunteers and staff will be on hand to provide advice on planting and care to ensure your new plants thrive.
This event is family-friendly and encourages parents to involve their children in learning about native plants and environmental stewardship.
