Step into a fun and eco-friendly clothes swap event designed to help you refresh your wardrobe without spending a dime. Bring up to five clean, pre-loved clothing items and exchange them for tokens that you can swap for new-to-you pieces. It's a fantastic way to save money, reduce textile waste, and connect with like-minded community members.
The event is informal and welcoming, perfect for parents looking to teach their children about sustainable living through practical action. After the swap, you can join a social sewing group to alter or upcycle your new finds, adding a creative twist to your wardrobe refresh.
- Drop off your clothes between 12:00 and 12:15 pm for inspection and token exchange.
- Clothes swapping begins at 12:30 pm and runs until 1:00 pm.
- Limit of 5 items per person to swap.
- All clothes must be washed and brought on the day, not beforehand.
- Tokens can be shared if you don’t find items in your size.
The event takes place at the Reginald Murphy Community Centre, located at 19 Greenknowe Avenue, Potts Point NSW 2011. The centre is open weekdays from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm and offers free amenities including a table tennis table, computers with WIFI, books to borrow, a piano, sewing machines, and complimentary tea and coffee.
This accessible venue encourages community participation and inclusivity. If you have any specific access or communication needs, contact the community worker Lucy Munevar at 02 9265 9133 or via email.
Please bring only clean, washed clothing items on the day of the event. The swap is limited to five items per person to keep the event manageable and fair for all participants. After the swap, you are invited to join the social sewing group at 1:00 pm to alter or upcycle your swapped items.
This event supports the reuse revolution by helping reduce fabric waste in landfills. It’s a clever, thrifty way to refresh your wardrobe while contributing to environmental sustainability.
The clothes swap is completely free to attend. No prior booking is required—just bring your items on the day between 12:00 and 12:15 pm. The community centre also hosts a weekly lunch on Wednesdays at 12:00 pm for $10, which is open to everyone.
Enjoy a relaxed, friendly atmosphere where you can meet others who care about sustainable fashion and community spirit.
