Activity Details
The workshop begins at 14:00 with a welcome and introduction, followed by hands-on demonstrations of soil amendments. Learn how to make biochar to improve water retention and soil habitat, and LAB to accelerate composting and support plant health.
There will be time for questions, discussion, and shared learning to deepen your understanding of soil biology and regenerative practices. A light afternoon tea with gluten-free and vegan options is provided to keep you refreshed.
Participants are encouraged to bring surplus produce or gardening items to share at the event's Share Table, fostering a community spirit of generosity and resource exchange.
Location and Access
Held at Ruth Carson's Garden, 9 Kann Street, Goombungee QLD 4354, this charming venue offers mostly accessible gardens suitable for strollers, walking frames, and wheelchairs, though some areas may be rough due to natural soil conditions.
Parking is limited; carpooling is recommended. Directions from Toowoomba include driving through town, past the school, turning left at the next street, and finding the last house on the right at the end of Kann Street. Please park by angling into the front fence or using the circular driveway.
Children are welcome with close adult supervision to ensure safety while exploring the garden.
Important Information
Bookings are essential to manage attendance and contact tracing. Please bring a KeepCup or similar reusable cup to minimize waste during afternoon tea. Dress appropriately for outdoor weather and bring water, sun protection, and a chair if desired.
The workshop supports sustainable gardening practices and encourages sharing surplus items such as seeds, plants, tools, and natural products at the Share Table.
