What to Expect
Immerse yourself in a heartfelt exploration of ritual, care, and memory across migration with the Rituals of Return workshops and installation. This event invites families to engage in meaningful conversations and creative activities centered around home, food, and gathering.
Experience the evolving collective artwork, The Long Table, where visitors contribute memories and reflections, creating a shared archive of food, care, and belonging. The installation also features atmospheric documentary photographs capturing the unseen labor behind community gatherings.

Activity Details
The program includes free workshops on Saturday 4 July from 13:00 to 14:30 for all ages, and Sunday 5 July from 14:00 to 15:30 for ages 9 and up. These sessions are facilitated by An.Other Collective and encourage gentle reflection and participation.
The installation runs from 10:00 to 17:00 on both days in the Atrium, allowing visitors to explore at their own pace and contribute to the collective artwork.
Light refreshments and tea will be available during the workshops to enhance the welcoming atmosphere.
Location and Access
Held at the Immigration Museum, located at 400 Flinders Street, Melbourne, the event is easily accessible by public transport and offers a sensory map and access guides for visitors with different needs.
The museum is open daily from 10:00 to 17:00, and the event does not include general museum entry, so separate admission is not required for the workshops and installation.

Please note that booking is required for the workshops, which are free of charge. The event is family-friendly, with specific age recommendations for Sunday’s workshop.
The installation and workshops focus on themes of community, hospitality, and belonging, inspired by Muslim traditions of open house during Eid.
