If your child is fascinated by insects or curious about the tiny creatures that live all around us, this workshop is a perfect holiday treat. They will get to meet a variety of live and preserved minibeasts and learn about the incredible diversity of invertebrate life found in our backyards.
This interactive session encourages hands-on participation, allowing children to experience the wonder of minibeasts up close under the guidance of experienced instructors. It’s a safe and supervised environment where young bug enthusiasts can deepen their appreciation for nature.
The workshop is designed to be engaging and educational, sparking curiosity and respect for these often overlooked creatures.
The session is led by Travelbugs Mobile Minibeasts, founded by a former Taronga Zoo Senior Keeper, ensuring expert knowledge and ethical care of all animals involved. The creatures come from sustainable breeders and the Travelbugs lab in the Blue Mountains.
All materials and equipment are provided, so there’s no need to bring anything along. Parents or guardians must remain in the library for the duration if their children are under 12, with a maximum supervision ratio of one adult to four children.
Please ensure punctuality as late arrivals may lose their place to those on the standby list. Cancellation at least three hours prior is appreciated to allow waitlisted families to attend.
The event takes place at the Clive James Library and Service Centre, located in Kogarah Town Square on Belgrave Street, Kogarah. The venue is accessible and welcoming to all families.
