What to Expect
Come along to a fun and empowering self-defence workshop designed especially for LGBTQIA+ young people and their allies. This session offers a safe space to learn practical skills that help you stay safe, build confidence, and support others. It's a fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded young people, try something new, and have fun in a welcoming environment.
Activity Details
The workshop is facilitated by Penny Gulliver, Chief Instructor at GLMA Newtown Martial Arts and a 6th Dan Black Belt. Penny is an LGBTQIA+ pioneer and founder of the Mardi Gras Martial Arts Championships. The session is suitable for young people aged 12 to 24 years old and focuses on creating a safe, inclusive, and diverse space celebrating all identities and backgrounds.
Location and Access
This event takes place at PCYC Northern Beaches, located at 40 Kingsway, Dee Why NSW 2099. The venue is accessible and welcoming. If you have any accessibility or inclusion requirements, please contact the organisers prior to attending to ensure full participation.
Important Information
Northern Beaches Council partners with GLMA Newtown Martial Arts to deliver this workshop as part of the 2026 Youth Week celebrations. The event is free but bookings are essential.
