What to Expect

Activity Details
This two-hour workshop runs on 13 June 2026 from 10:00 to 12:00 at 45 Albert St, Gumeracha SA 5233. The session covers:
- Making slow fermented focaccia, ciabatta, and pizza doughs
- Techniques for high hydration doughs including stretching and shaping
- Baking sourdough breads in a domestic oven
- Understanding flour blends and hydration levels
- Troubleshooting common dough issues
Kym’s workshops are known for being open, easy, and fun, designed to empower you with confidence and creativity in sourdough baking.
Location and Access
The workshop takes place at the Torrens Valley Community Centre located within the Community Hub at 45 Albert St, Gumeracha. The centre offers ample parking including disabled spaces, with well-lit access points for safety.
Facilities include toilets (with disabled access), baby change tables, a fully equipped kitchen, and a welcoming, inclusive environment that is LGBTQI+ and dementia friendly. The centre is accessible via ramps and has wide entrances suitable for wheelchairs.
Nearby parking is available at the Gumeracha sporting oval for larger vehicles, and the community hub also houses the Gumeracha Town Hall and library.
Important Information
Please note that the community centre closes during Extreme or Catastrophic Fire Danger Ratings for the Mt Lofty Ranges, and all classes will be cancelled without notice under these conditions. Payments will be reimbursed or courses rescheduled accordingly.
Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather, bring a torch or phone light if attending evening events, and be prepared for cooler temperatures or rain in winter.
The centre welcomes everyone and provides facilities to warm baby bottles, heat meals, and make hot drinks.
Booking and Prices
Tickets are $15 and can be booked online. The fee includes all materials, recipes, and a sourdough starter to take home. Early booking is recommended to secure your place in this popular workshop.
