Experience comprehensive parenting classes designed to prepare you for the exciting journey of labour, birth, and early parenting. These sessions are perfect for first-time parents or those looking for a refresher, offering expert guidance from experienced midwives.
These classes cover essential topics such as managing labour and birth, including assisted and emergency caesarean births, induction of labour, and possible complications. You will also learn about newborn care, breastfeeding, safe sleeping guidelines, emotional wellbeing, and community support resources. The classes are tailored to provide practical knowledge and confidence for your parenting journey.
There are two main class formats available: a full weekend class held on Saturday from 08:15 to 16:00 and Sunday from 08:30 to 15:00, and a one-day caesarean birth and early parenting class on Saturday from 08:15 to 16:00. Each ticket includes attendance for you and your partner or support person. Booking is recommended 4-6 weeks before your due date to ensure the information is timely and relevant.
Classes take place at St Vincent's Private Hospital Toowoomba, located at 22-36 Scott Street, Toowoomba City, QLD 4350. The hospital is accessible by car and public transport, with parking options nearby. The venue provides a comfortable and supportive environment for learning and discussion.
If your birth plan changes to a caesarean, please contact the Dorothea Devine Maternity Unit reception to switch to the appropriate class. Check with your health insurer to see if the class cost is covered under your policy. Only one ticket per family is required as it includes your partner or support person's attendance.
