Prepare for your parenting journey with expert-led classes designed for first-time parents and those needing a refresher. These sessions cover labour, birth, and early parenting, including special classes for caesarean births. You and your partner/support person will gain confidence and practical knowledge to navigate the exciting early days of parenthood.
The classes are conducted by experienced midwives in small groups to ensure personalized attention. Weekend classes run Saturday 8:15 to 16:00 and Sunday 8:30 to 15:00, while caesarean birth classes are held on Saturdays only from 8:15 to 16:00. Topics include managing labour, induction, possible complications, newborn care, breastfeeding, safe sleeping, emotional wellbeing, and community supports.
Classes take place at St Vincent's Private Hospital Toowoomba, located at 22-36 Scott St, Toowoomba City QLD 4350. The hospital is easily accessible within the city, providing a comfortable and supportive environment for learning. Parking and public transport options are available nearby for convenience.
Booking early is recommended, ideally 4-6 weeks before your due date, to ensure the information is fresh. Only one ticket per family is needed, covering attendance for both the parent and their partner or support person. If your birth plan changes to a caesarean, contact the maternity unit to switch classes. Check with your health insurer about coverage for the class cost.
