Discover essential parenting skills with our expert-led classes designed for first-time parents and those needing a refresher. Our midwives provide supportive, small group sessions to prepare you for labour, birth, and early parenting challenges.
Our classes cover a wide range of topics including managing labour and birth, induction, possible complications, and emergency procedures. We also offer a dedicated caesarean birth class, newborn care, breastfeeding, safe sleeping, and emotional wellbeing. These sessions are tailored to help you feel confident and informed as you approach parenthood.
Choose between a full weekend class or a one-day caesarean birth class. Weekend classes run Saturday 8:15am to 4:00pm and Sunday 8:30am to 3:00pm, while the caesarean class is Saturday only from 8:15am to 4:00pm. Booking about 4-6 weeks before your due date is recommended to keep information fresh.
Classes are held at St Vincent's Private Hospital Toowoomba, located at 22-36 Scott St, Toowoomba City QLD 4350. The venue is accessible and welcoming, providing a comfortable environment for learning and support.
Please book only one ticket per couple, as your partner or support person is included. If your birth plan changes to a caesarean, contact the Dorothea Devine Maternity Unit reception to switch classes. Check with your health insurer to see if the class cost is covered under your policy.
