Discover essential parenting skills with St Vincent's Private Hospital Toowoomba's expert midwives in a supportive small group setting. These classes are designed especially for first-time parents or those seeking a refresher, providing confidence and knowledge for the exciting journey ahead.
The classes cover a range of important topics including managing labour and birth, induction, possible complications, and emergency caesarean birth. There are also dedicated sessions for elective caesarean births, newborn care, breastfeeding, safe sleeping, and emotional wellbeing.
You can choose between a full weekend class or a focused one-day caesarean birth class, ensuring flexibility to suit your needs. Each class welcomes you and your partner/support person to attend together, fostering shared understanding and preparation.
- Full weekend class: Saturday 08:15 to 16:00 and Sunday 08:30 to 15:00
- Caesarean birth class: Saturday 08:15 to 16:00
- Recommended booking 4-6 weeks before your due date
- Topics include labour management, newborn care, breastfeeding, sleep and settling, and community supports
These sessions are led by experienced midwives from the Dorothea Devine Maternity Unit, ensuring you receive up-to-date, practical information to support your parenting journey.
Classes are held at St Vincent's Private Hospital Toowoomba, located at 22-36 Scott St, Toowoomba City QLD 4350. The hospital is easily accessible within the city, with parking and public transport options nearby.
The welcoming environment of the hospital's maternity unit provides a comfortable space for learning and asking questions, with staff available to assist throughout your attendance.
Please book only one ticket per family, as your partner or support person is included in the class. If your birth plan changes to a caesarean, contact the maternity unit reception to switch to the appropriate class.

The cost for each class is $300.00. Booking in advance is recommended to secure your preferred dates, especially as classes fill quickly.
