Experience comprehensive parenting classes designed to support you through labour, birth, and early parenting. Whether you're a first-time parent or looking for a refresher, these sessions provide valuable insights and practical guidance to help you feel confident and prepared.
These classes cover a range of important topics including managing labour and birth, induction, possible complications, and emergency caesarean birth. There are also specialized sessions for elective caesarean births, newborn care, breastfeeding, safe sleeping, and emotional wellbeing. The classes are small group sessions led by experienced midwives, ensuring personalized attention and support.
Choose between a full weekend class or a one-day caesarean birth class. The weekend class runs Saturday 8:15am to 4:00pm and Sunday 8:30am to 3:00pm, while the caesarean class is held on Saturday from 8:15am to 4:00pm. Booking is recommended about 4-6 weeks before your due date to keep information fresh. Your partner or support person is welcome to attend with you at no extra cost.
Classes are held at St Vincent's Private Hospital Toowoomba, located at 22-36 Scott St, Toowoomba City QLD 4350. The hospital is easily accessible and provides a comfortable environment for learning. Parking and public transport options are available nearby.
If your birth plan changes to a caesarean, contact the Dorothea Devine Maternity Unit reception to switch classes. Check with your health insurer to see if the class cost is covered under your policy. Only one ticket per family is needed as it includes your partner or support person's attendance.
