These classes cover essential topics such as managing labour and birth, including assisted and emergency caesarean births, induction of labour, and possible complications. For those planning a caesarean birth, a dedicated class covers what to expect, newborn characteristics, and maternity ward stay. Early parenting topics include breastfeeding, safe sleeping, emotional wellbeing, and community support.
Choose between a comprehensive two-day weekend class or a focused one-day caesarean birth class. Weekend classes run Saturday 8:15am to 4:00pm and Sunday 8:30am to 3:00pm. Caesarean classes take place on Saturdays from 8:15am to 4:00pm. Classes are small group sessions to ensure personalized attention and include your partner or support person.
Held at St Vincent's Private Hospital Toowoomba, located at 22-36 Scott St, Toowoomba City QLD 4350. The hospital is easily accessible and provides a comfortable setting for learning and discussion. Parking and public transport options are available nearby.
It is recommended to book your class 4-6 weeks before your due date to keep information fresh. If your birth plan changes to a caesarean, contact the maternity unit to switch classes. Only one ticket per family is needed as it includes your support person's attendance. Check with your health insurer for possible coverage of class fees.
