These classes cover essential topics such as managing labour and birth, including assisted and emergency caesarean births, induction of labour, and possible complications. You will also learn about newborn care, breastfeeding, safe sleeping guidelines, and emotional wellbeing. Classes are tailored to your needs, with options for a full weekend or a one-day session focused on caesarean birth.
- Labour, birth and early parenting weekend class: Saturday 08:15 to 16:00 and Sunday 08:30 to 15:00
- Caesarean birth and early parenting class: Saturday 08:15 to 16:00
- Recommended booking: 4-6 weeks before your due date

- Topics include newborn characteristics, maternity ward stay, routine screenings, sleep and settling, and community supports

Please book only one ticket as it includes your partner or support person. If your birth plan changes to a caesarean, contact the Dorothea Devine Maternity Unit reception to switch classes. Check with your health insurer to see if the class cost is covered under your policy.
