Let your toddler dive into the wonders of nature through Alton's engaging storytelling sessions. This outdoor activity encourages children aged 2 to 4 years to move, play, and learn about Country, language, and dance in a fun and active environment.
The storytime lasts for one hour, providing a relaxed yet structured experience where children can explore the natural surroundings while listening to captivating stories. Families are invited to stay afterwards to enjoy the nature play area, perfect for messy play and outdoor exploration.
Sessions run regardless of weather, with an indoor alternative available during wet or hot conditions, ensuring your little ones stay comfortable and entertained.
This event is designed as an early learning environment where children are encouraged to sit calmly and follow instructions from the facilitator. Parents and caregivers are responsible for supervising their children and ensuring a positive experience for all attendees.
The program includes interactive storytelling, language learning, dance, and exploration of the natural environment. Quiet spaces are also provided for children who may need a break from the activity.
Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times, and appropriate outdoor clothing and enclosed shoes are recommended due to the nature of the play area.
The event takes place at the Ngoolark Space, an amphitheatre located outdoors at Melville EcoHub, with indoor options available if needed. The venue is situated at 555 Leach Highway, Winthrop, within the Piney Lakes Reserve.
Accessible parking is available at the front of EcoHub, and the facility includes ramps and accessible toilets. Public transport is encouraged, with a bus stop just a 2-minute walk away servicing multiple routes.
Directions include taking the first left after Murdoch Drive on Leach Highway when heading westbound, with clear signage for the public carpark.
Please bring a change of clothes, wet weather gear, hats, sunscreen, your own drink bottle, and morning tea for your child. The event runs in all weather conditions, with shelter and indoor play provided during rain.
Children should be able to sit calmly and follow instructions to fully benefit from the session. Parents must ensure their child's behavior does not disrupt the experience for others.
This storytime is part of an ongoing toddler program at EcoHub, including other activities like Buds & Blooms, Tales & Trails, and Freeplay.
Tickets are priced at $7 per child. Booking is required to secure a spot for the session.
