What to Expect
Celebrate strength, equity, and creativity at this engaging International Women’s Day Pop Art card-making workshop. Inspired by the 2026 theme “Balance the Scales,” the event highlights the importance of inclusive and accessible justice for women and girls. Participants will explore recent and archival images, including materials from the City of Sydney Archives, uncovering stories of iconic women justice and equality advocates.
This workshop invites you to create bold, quirky, and celebratory Pop Art–style cards using gouache, collage, and vibrant colour. Guided by experienced facilitators, the session is relaxed and welcoming, suitable for all skill levels.
Enjoy a delicious afternoon cup of tea with scones, jam, and cream as you connect creatively across generations. This intergenerational workshop encourages bringing a family member or friend to share in a joyful celebration of creativity, history, community, and inspiring women.
Activity Details
The workshop runs on Sunday, 8 March 2026, from 13:00 to 15:00. It is designed for participants aged 13 years and older. Throughout the session, you will be supported in the creative process, blending art, history, and storytelling.
The event features images of trailblazers such as Lilian Fowler and Jessie Street, influential First Nations women, and contemporary advocates like Sherele Moody. The creative activities include making Pop Art cards using gouache paint and collage techniques.
