Experience a moving documentary that tells the story of the Gweagal Spears' long-awaited homecoming. These significant fishing spears were crafted by Gweagal clansmen from Gamay (Botany Bay) and taken by James Cook's crew in 1770, held in the UK for over two centuries.
This screening offers a unique opportunity to learn about the cultural heritage and ongoing efforts of the descendants who have fought to bring these spears back to Australia. It’s a meaningful event that highlights Indigenous history and reconciliation.
After the film, engage in a panel discussion with Noeleen Timbery, Clare Woolley, and Quaiden Williams-Riley, who will share insights and reflections on the journey and significance of the spears' return.
The event takes place on Thursday, 9 July 2026, from 18:00 to 19:30. It is free to attend but requires booking through Humanitix.
