What to Expect
Step into the enchanting world of Tudor and Renaissance music with the Tudor Choristers' open rehearsals. This is a wonderful opportunity for capable singers to join a welcoming community choir as they prepare their upcoming concert program, 'Winter is icumen in'. Expect a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where you can meet fellow singers and the music director.
The rehearsals focus on themes of winter, change, and the turning of the seasons, exploring music that reflects transformation, stillness, and renewal. Inspired by the medieval song 'Sumer is icumen in', the program playfully embraces the colder season with rich musical and symbolic ideas.
Whether you are an experienced sight-reader or enjoy singing 4-part harmony, these rehearsals offer a chance to engage deeply with beautiful choral repertoire in a small ensemble setting.
Activity Details
The open rehearsals take place on two consecutive Wednesdays: 15 April and 22 April 2026, from 19:30 to 22:00. Each session provides a relaxed environment to explore the repertoire and prepare for upcoming performances.
Participants should be fairly confident sight-readers and comfortable singing 4-part harmony. The focus is on Tudor and Renaissance music, so an interest in this genre will enhance your experience.
