What to Expect
Experience the thrill of athletics with Western Athletics Club's Come and Try sessions. These introductory sessions are perfect for newcomers and seasoned athletes alike, offering a chance to explore running, jumping, and throwing events. Whether you have a specific interest or want to try a bit of everything, these sessions provide a welcoming environment for all.
You will get to participate in sprinting, middle and long-distance running, as well as jumping and throwing activities. The club supports athletes of all experience levels and ages, from Under 14s to Masters. It’s a great way for families and youth to engage in healthy, active outdoor fun.
The sessions are designed to be inclusive and supportive, with Western Athletics working towards the Sport4All program to welcome participants with disabilities. Under 12s are encouraged to join the Werribee Little Athletics Club for age-appropriate activities.
Activity Details
The Come and Try sessions run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 17:00 to 18:00. Each session includes a mix of running, jumping, and throwing activities tailored to your interests and abilities. The club fields men’s and women’s teams across all age groups and competes in Athletics Victoria's Track and Field Shield in summer and Cross Country and Road Racing Series in winter.
Participants can expect expert coaching, friendly club members, and a supportive atmosphere. There is no upper age limit, making it a fantastic opportunity for adults and seniors to stay active and engaged.

Location and Access
The sessions take place at the Victoria University Sporting Complex athletics track, located on Hoppers Lane, Hoppers Crossing. This venue offers excellent facilities for athletics training and competition.
It is easily accessible by car and public transport, with ample parking available. The location is family-friendly and safe, providing a great environment for kids and adults to enjoy athletics.
