Children aged 3 to 5 will embark on an exciting journey to discover the basic needs of local wildlife, including food, water, and shelter. This engaging workshop connects little ones to local ecosystems such as CERES nest boxes and the Merri Creek through interactive exploration. It's a perfect opportunity for young minds to learn about nature and biodiversity in a playful setting.
Participants will explore the environment to assess if it is a suitable habitat for wildlife. They will identify and collect natural materials and then build what local wildlife needs to thrive. A highlight of the workshop is creating a mini insect hotel to take home, helping to increase habitat and biodiversity. The session is designed to be hands-on and educational, fostering a love of nature in young children.
This workshop is tailored for children aged 3 to 5 years. Each child or group must be accompanied by an adult guardian who stays throughout the workshop and any breaks, with a maximum of one guardian per child. The session runs for two hours, providing ample time for exploration and creative building activities. It is part of the Autumn School Holidays 2026 program.
The event takes place at CERES Community Environment Park, located at the corner of Roberts and Stewart Streets, Brunswick East VIC 3057. Participants should allow plenty of time for parking and a short 5-minute walk to the meeting point at Terra Terra Wonder Playspace within the park.
