This engaging Young Drivers Awareness Course is designed to enhance the defensive driving skills of learner and provisional drivers. Whether your child is just starting out or already gaining experience, this course offers valuable insights to improve safety on the road. It’s a fantastic opportunity for young drivers to learn life-saving techniques and boost their confidence behind the wheel.
Participants will be guided by top instructors from the Australian Driving Institute through both theory and practical exercises. The course covers essential topics such as braking and steering techniques, maintaining a safe following distance, and understanding the impacts of alcohol, distraction, peer pressure, and fatigue. Expect hands-on learning that goes beyond typical driving lessons.
The course runs on 15 April 2026 from 08:30 to 17:00. Learners must be accompanied by a supervising driver, and all participants need to bring their own vehicle. Lunch is provided by Lobethal Bakery with vegetarian and meat options available, along with light refreshments during breaks. Note that gluten-free options are limited to biscuits only. A fridge and microwave are available for use.
The event takes place at 1 Newman Rd, Charleston SA 5244, within the Adelaide Hills Council district. This location is accessible for residents, workers, students, and volunteers in the area, making it convenient for local families.
Tickets cost $50 per person, subsidised by Adelaide Hills Council. When booking, you must provide copies of all drivers’ and supervisors’ licenses (front and back). Arrive 10-15 minutes early to ensure a prompt start. Refunds are available only if requested more than 7 days before the event, with limited numbers to maintain quality.
Tickets are available online for $50 each. The subsidy makes this course affordable for eligible young drivers living or involved in the Adelaide Hills community. Early booking is encouraged due to limited spaces and catering arrangements.
