What to Expect

Activity Details
The workshop runs on Sunday, 26 April 2026, from 10:00 to 13:30. It is designed exclusively for 16 to 25 year olds, providing a focused environment for youth engagement.
Ibrahim Awad, the lead soaper and Director of the Sydney Soap Factory, will personally guide attendees through the soap making process. His expertise includes using natural ingredients sourced from his family’s estate, ensuring an authentic and environmentally conscious experience.
The session includes practical demonstrations and hands-on crafting, allowing participants to create their own soaps using traditional recipes and techniques.
Location and Access
The workshop takes place at the Entertainment Hall within White Bay Power Station, located on Victoria Road, Rozelle NSW 2039. Entry is via Gate 5 on Victoria Road, separate from the main Robert Street entrance.
Accessible bathrooms are available inside the Entertainment Hall. While there is no general on-site parking, limited 2-hour street parking is available nearby, along with two accessible parking spots near Gate 1 (note a 300-metre uphill walk from there).
Rideshare drop-offs are recommended on Crescent Street to avoid restrictions on Victoria Road, with a short and safe walk to the venue.

This workshop is part of the Biennale of Sydney’s Education Program, supported by Nido Early School and Western Sydney University. It is tailored specifically for young adults aged 16 to 25.
Participants should be prepared for a hands-on experience involving natural ingredients and traditional soap making techniques. The workshop promotes environmental awareness through the use of sustainable materials.
