AbSec warmly invites families to join the 2025 NAIDOC Family Fun Day, a vibrant community celebration held on the traditional lands of the Eora Nation, Gadigal and Wangal people. This event is a wonderful opportunity to experience Indigenous culture, connect with community, and enjoy a day full of engaging activities designed for all ages.

What to Expect

Experience a rich program featuring cultural performances and traditional dance that bring Indigenous stories and heritage to life. Children can participate in creative workshops and fun activities tailored just for them. Enjoy live music and storytelling by First Nations artists, browse stalls offering arts, crafts, and merchandise, and indulge in delicious food from various stalls and coffee vans. The event also includes interactive community and service stalls, free giveaways, and plenty of fun for everyone.

Activity Details

The event takes place on Wednesday, 9 July 2025, from 10:00 to 14:00. It is hosted by AbSec, the NSW Child, Family and Community Peak Aboriginal Corporation, as part of the 2025 NAIDOC Week celebrations. This year's theme, "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy," highlights the empowerment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young leaders and celebrates 50 years of Indigenous strength and resilience.

Location and Access

The Family Fun Day is held at PCYC Marrickville, located at 531 Illawarra Road, Marrickville NSW 2204. The venue is accessible and situated on the traditional lands of the Eora Nation, Gadigal and Wangal people. Families are encouraged to use public transport or carpool where possible due to limited parking.

Entry to the event is free and open to all community members, families, children, local organisations, schools, and allies. Attendees are encouraged to register online to help with event planning and to receive updates. The event is family-friendly and designed to be inclusive and welcoming.
