What to Expect
Experience a delightful morning exploring the fascinating world of flying foxes in their natural habitat. This event offers a unique opportunity for families to connect with nature and learn about these incredible creatures that call the reserve home.
Alongside the wildlife discovery, children will engage in creative art activities inspired by the flying foxes, making it a perfect blend of education and fun. No prior experience is necessary, just a spirit of adventure and curiosity.
The event is designed to be family-friendly and encourages parents and children to enjoy the fresh air, wildlife, and creativity together.
Activity Details
The program runs on Saturday, 10 October 2026, from 08:00 to 10:30. Participants will meet at River Rd Oatley, near the old Oatley Bowling Club, before heading to Myles Dunphy Reserve.
The event is free of charge, but bookings are essential. Please note this session is currently sold out, and interested families are encouraged to join the waiting list.
This activity is proudly supported by the Urban Rivers and Catchment Program and Georges Riverkeeper, with funding from the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust.
Location and Access
The event takes place at Myles Dunphy Reserve, Oatley, a beautiful natural space perfect for wildlife observation and outdoor activities.
The meeting point is on River Rd Oatley at the site of the old Oatley Bowling Club, making it easy to find and access.
Participants are encouraged to bring a hat, water, and suitable outdoor clothing to ensure comfort during the morning adventure.
Important Information
No previous experience with bushcare or wildlife is required, making this event accessible to all families.
As the program is outdoors, please prepare for weather conditions and bring essentials like water and sun protection.
Bookings are mandatory, and due to high demand, the event is currently sold out. Registering for the waitlist is recommended for those still interested.

This is a free event, funded by the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust under the Urban Rivers and Catchments Program.
Bookings must be made in advance, and while the event is sold out, a waitlist is available for late registrations.
