Community Resilience 101 is an engaging and welcoming workshop designed for Banyule residents interested in understanding the impacts of climate change on their households and neighbourhoods. This session offers practical advice on simple actions that can reduce harm and strengthen community support networks before, during, and after disruptions.
You don’t need any prior knowledge to participate—just a willingness to learn, connect with neighbours, and take meaningful steps together towards resilience.
The workshop is facilitated by Dr Jean Renouf, a renowned expert in resilience and emergency preparedness, bringing valuable frontline experience from major Australian disasters.
This workshop will explore the local climate risks specific to Banyule and practical strategies to build resilience at the household and community level. Participants will gain insights into how neighbours can support each other effectively during emergencies.
Dr Jean Renouf, founder and CEO of Safer Future, leads the session. His expertise includes leadership roles in the 2022 Lismore floods and the 2019–2020 Black Summer bushfires, recognized with prestigious national awards.
The workshop runs for three and a half hours, providing ample time for discussion, learning, and community connection.
