Experience the joy of free play in a natural setting where children can unplug from screens and reconnect with nature. This informal session encourages imaginative and unstructured play, allowing toddlers to explore at their own pace.
Children can dig in the dirt, water gardens, cook in mud kitchens, spot fish in the pond, and enjoy a variety of toys including musical instruments, chalkboards, and books. The environment is designed to inspire creativity and foster a love of the outdoors.
Parents can relax with a coffee provided on site while supervising their children in a safe and welcoming bushland setting.
Each session lasts two hours, running from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM on Thursdays. Guests are welcome to come and go as they please during this time.
The play is unstructured and unguided, promoting independent exploration and creativity. Playgroup rules apply, ensuring children play freely while parents supervise nearby for safety.
The event includes both indoor and outdoor spaces, with a variety of play items such as natural sand areas, mud kitchens, toy animals, timber steppers, balancing logs, chalkboards, and giant Jenga.
The sessions take place at the Ngoolark Space within the Melville EcoHub, located at 555 Leach Highway, Winthrop, in the Piney Lakes Reserve.
Accessible parking is available at the front of the EcoHub, with indoor and outdoor seating and some hard paths and compacted sand for easier mobility. The venue is accessible via ramps and has toilets on site.
Public transport is recommended, with a bus stop just a 2-minute walk away servicing multiple routes.
Sessions run outdoors in all weather conditions; please bring appropriate clothing including wet weather gear, hats, sunscreen, and insect repellent.
Bring your own drink bottle and morning tea. Shelter from rain is available.
For specific access requirements, contact the EcoHub via phone or email.
This is a free drop-in event with no booking required. Families can simply arrive and enjoy the play session at their convenience.
The EcoHub also offers recycling options and sustainability information for attendees interested in environmental initiatives.
