What to Expect
Immerse your child in a full day of creative ceramics with award-winning artist Christian Bonett. This workshop invites young artists to explore clay hand-building and glazing techniques while crafting a sculpture inspired by the Sydney Opera House at the vibrant time of VIVID Sydney. It’s a fantastic opportunity for children to develop foundational skills in slab construction, coiling, and joining.
The session is designed to be accessible to all skill levels, making it perfect for beginners and those with some experience. Participants will enjoy a hands-on, playful approach to ceramics in a supportive environment.
Activity Details
The workshop runs on Tuesday, 7 July 2026, from 9:30am to 4:15pm. Please note this is not a wheel throwing class but focuses on hand-building techniques. Students are required to stay on-site during breaks, including lunch and morning tea.
To encourage sustainability and reduce unclaimed works, there is an optional $8 fee for glazing and firing your child’s piece. All pottery must be collected within four weeks after the workshop to maintain space and safety at the school.
Location and Access
Held at Waverley Woollahra Art School, located at 138 Bondi Rd, Bondi NSW 2026, Australia, the venue is easily accessible and well-equipped for creative workshops. Parents can rest assured that the environment is safe and organized, ideal for school-aged children.
If your teen will be arriving and leaving independently, a waiver must be completed to permit them to leave at the end of the class. Remember to pack a water bottle, snacks, lunch, and a jacket to keep comfortable throughout the day.
Important Information
This workshop is tailored for children and teens interested in exploring ceramic art. It is not suitable for wheel throwing enthusiasts. The school takes no responsibility for loss or breakage of artworks.
