Discover the joy of pets through art in this engaging guided tour designed especially for families. Our friendly volunteer guides will lead you through the Naala Nura building, sharing stories and artistic techniques behind pet portraits and important animals in our lives.
This roving art-making experience invites children and adults alike to participate in fun activities that bring the artworks to life. It's perfect for first-time visitors and suitable for all ages, from the very young to the young at heart.
Enjoy a creative and interactive session that encourages imagination and appreciation for art in a welcoming environment.
The tour runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 16 July 2026, with additional sessions on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 July 2026. Each session starts at 11:00 and lasts approximately 40 minutes.
Activities include viewing selected pet portraits from the gallery’s collection and engaging in hands-on art-making inspired by the artworks.
No prior booking is required, making it easy to drop in and enjoy this family-friendly event.
The event takes place at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, specifically in the Naala Nura building on the ground level at Kaldor Hall.
The gallery is located on Art Gallery Road, The Domain, Sydney NSW 2000, on Gadigal Country.
Access is free, and the venue is family-friendly with facilities to accommodate visitors of all ages.
Please note that the tour is free of charge and supported by The Bayard Foundation.
Sessions are designed to be inclusive and welcoming to families, encouraging participation from children and adults alike.
The gallery is open daily from 10:00 to 17:00, with extended hours on Wednesdays until 22:00, except for Good Friday and Christmas Day when it is closed.
This event is free and does not require bookings, allowing families to attend at their convenience during the scheduled dates.
