Dive into the exciting world of comic book creation with your child during the school holidays. This hands-on session invites kids aged 8-12 to invent unique characters and start building their own storylines. Guided by Kieran Clancy-Lowe, a practising visual artist and actor, children will enjoy a creative and supportive environment where imagination takes the lead.
No previous art experience is needed, making this a perfect introduction to comic-making for young beginners. Small groups ensure personalized attention, helping each child develop their ideas and artistic skills.
The session runs for one hour, from 15:30 to 16:30, and costs $30 per child. It is a taster event previewing a more extensive five-week Term 3 module starting Wednesday 22 July, where participants will complete a full comic book by the end.
Children will learn the real creative process: generating ideas, making decisions, and solving problems while drawing and assembling their comic pages. This is a fantastic opportunity to nurture storytelling and artistic expression.
The workshop is held at The Place, a creative studio located at 12 Victoria Street, Lewisham, NSW 2049. The venue is conveniently near the Lewisham station, making it easily accessible by public transport.
