Children will learn tips and tricks for creating comics and enjoy a hands-on creative activity where they can design their very own character.
This event is perfect for children aged 5 to 12 who love drawing, storytelling, or simply want to explore their creativity in a supportive and inspiring environment. Serena's engaging style and wealth of experience make this a memorable experience for young artists.
The session will run for one hour, from 16:00 to 17:00, on Tuesday, 25 August 2026. Bookings are essential, and parents should reserve one ticket per child attending. Serena Geddes will also have her books available for purchase after the session, offering a chance to take home a signed copy of her work.
Serena Geddes is an internationally published children’s book creator, known for series like Howzat Pat and Lulu Bell, and picture books such as We Are Matildas and Hope Is a Spark. Her extensive experience includes working at Walt Disney Studios on sequels to The Lion King and The Jungle Book.
The event will be held at Stanton Library, located at 234 Miller Street, North Sydney, NSW 2060. Please note that the session takes place on Level 1. Due to lift maintenance from late July onward, access to Level 1 is only possible via two flights of stairs, so please plan accordingly.

This event is free of charge, but places are limited, so early booking is recommended to secure your spot. The session is designed specifically for children aged 5 to 12, ensuring age-appropriate content and activities.
Parents are encouraged to book one ticket per child to comply with capacity and safety requirements. The event will provide all necessary materials for the creative activity, so no need to bring supplies.
Attendance is free, but booking is essential. Reserve your tickets through the North Sydney Council events page or Stanton Library’s booking system. This ensures your child’s place in this popular and inspiring workshop.
Take advantage of this unique chance to inspire your child’s creativity and introduce them to the world of illustration and graphic novels with a professional artist.
