MyTime Marrickville provides a welcoming space for parents and carers of children with disabilities, developmental delays, or concerns about their child's development. This unique service offers a break from appointments and therapy, focusing on support, socialising, and sharing information with others who understand your journey.
In each session, members can relax over tea or coffee, chat about their week, and exchange advice and support. Facilitators or guest speakers may lead discussions on relevant topics, providing valuable insights and learning opportunities. The group also includes activities designed to help carers take care of their own well-being and enjoy some fun and relaxation.
The program consists of five fortnightly sessions, each lasting two hours from 11:00 to 13:00. Topics include parenting styles, Mother's Day celebrations, supporting children at school, emotional regulation for families, and sibling relationships. Members are welcome to attend any or all sessions according to their needs.
Sessions are held at Plumtree Children’s Services on Yabsley Avenue in Marrickville, NSW. The venue is mobility accessible, ensuring ease of access for all participants. Support is provided for carers and families to fully engage in the sessions.
MyTime Marrickville is run by parent-peer workers who share lived experience in raising children with disabilities and delays. This peer-led approach fosters a supportive and understanding environment. Accessibility services are available to accommodate various needs, making the group inclusive and welcoming.
