Explore, test, and create at Open Lab! This engaging program invites children and their guardians to dive into a variety of STEAM activities designed to inspire curiosity and creativity. Perfect for kids aged 5 and above, these sessions offer a hands-on experience with technology and design tools in a supportive environment.
What to Expect
Each session offers a chance to explore exciting activities such as Sphero robotics, Kubo coding, TinkerCAD 3D design, Scratch programming, and LEGO® Education kits. Children will be guided through interactive challenges that encourage problem-solving and teamwork.
Sessions are designed to be fun and educational, with a focus on fostering a love for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Guardians are welcome to stay and support their children throughout the workshop.
Activity Details
- Age group: 5 years and older
- Duration: 1 hour per session including 10 minutes arrival and 10 minutes pack up
- Dates: Saturdays, 7, 14, 21, and 28 February 2026
- Times: Two sessions available each day, 10:00-11:00 and 11:00-12:00
- Registration is required with a limit of one registration per day per customer
Location and Access
The workshops take place at lab.LX, located at 165 Railway Parade, Cabramatta NSW 2166. This accessible venue is part of the Whitlam Library and offers a welcoming space for families to engage in creative learning.
Public transport options and parking are available nearby, making it easy for families to attend. The library membership is recommended for attendees and is free to join.
Important Information
Guardians must remain on-site for the duration of the program if children are under 12 years old, and must be at least 16 years of age. The program maintains a respectful environment and reserves the right to refuse entry or ask attendees to leave if behaviour is inappropriate.
Photography may occur during sessions for promotional purposes; attendees can notify staff if they do not consent. Workshops may be rescheduled or cancelled due to low enrolment or unforeseen circumstances, with notifications sent via email.
