What to Expect
Open Lab invites children and their guardians to dive into a world of STEAM exploration and creativity. Each session offers hands-on activities using tools like Sphero, Kubo, TinkerCAD, Scratch, and LEGO® Education, designed to engage young minds and spark curiosity.
These sessions are perfect for children aged 5 and above, providing a safe and fun environment to experiment, learn, and play. Guardians are encouraged to stay and support their children throughout the activities.
Expect a lively atmosphere where kids can test new skills, collaborate, and enjoy technology in an interactive way.
Activity Details
The program runs every Saturday in March 2026, with multiple one-hour sessions available between 10:00 and 16:00. Each workshop includes a 10-minute arrival and a 10-minute pack-up time within the session.
Registration is required, and participants are limited to one session per day to ensure quality engagement. The activities are free of charge, making it accessible for families looking for enriching weekend plans.
The recommended age is 5 years and older, and guardians of children under 12 must remain on-site during the sessions. Guardians must be at least 16 years old.
Location and Access
All sessions take place at Lab.LX within Whitlam Library Cabramatta, located at 165 Railway Parade, Cabramatta NSW 2166.
The venue is easily accessible by public transport and offers a welcoming community space for families. Parking and local amenities are available nearby.
Families are encouraged to become members of Fairfield City Open Libraries, which is free and provides additional resources and benefits.

Please note that workshops may be rescheduled or cancelled due to low enrolment or unforeseen circumstances, with notifications sent via email.
Photography may occur during events for promotional purposes; attendees can notify staff if they do not consent.
For health and safety, attendees experiencing illness or COVID-19 symptoms are asked to refrain from attending and notify the library.
Respectful behavior is expected from all participants and guardians; inappropriate conduct may result in removal from the program.
Booking and Prices
Bookings are handled through Eventbrite, and it is important to cancel if unable to attend to free up spots for others.
The program is free, making it an excellent opportunity for families to engage in educational activities without cost.
