What to Expect
Reading aloud is a wonderful way to spark a lifelong love of books and storytelling in children. This program invites kids aged 6-10 to join a cozy group setting where they can listen to and discuss popular children's fiction and picture books. It's a gentle, engaging activity designed to improve comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, and expressive reading skills.
Each session is a chance for your child to develop confidence in storytelling while having fun with peers. The relaxed atmosphere encourages participation and sharing thoughts about the stories read aloud.
Activity Details
The Read Aloud Corner runs every Wednesday during the school term, from 4:00pm to 5:00pm, allowing families to plan after-school activities easily. Each session includes a 10-minute arrival and pack-up time within the hour.
Registration is required, with a limit of one registration per day for multi-session programs. Guardians must remain on-site for children under 12, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
Location and Access
Sessions take place at Whitlam Library Cabramatta, located at 165 Railway Parade, Cabramatta NSW 2166. The library is accessible and welcoming, providing a comfortable space for children and their families.
Library membership is recommended and free for all attendees, making it easy to access other library resources and programs.
Important Information
Please ensure children are within the recommended age range of 6-10 years. Guardians aged 16 or older must stay on the premises during the program.
The library maintains a respectful environment; inappropriate behavior may result in removal from the program. Photography may occur for promotional purposes; notify staff if you do not consent.
If you or your child are unwell, please refrain from attending and notify the library to keep everyone safe.
