What to Expect
Repair Lab Melville offers a unique opportunity for families to bring broken household items and receive free repair assistance from experienced volunteers. This event encourages sustainability by giving new life to items that might otherwise be discarded, helping reduce waste and landfill.
Volunteers will attempt repairs on a variety of items including small electrical appliances, textiles, shoes, furniture, bicycles, and more. While not all items can be fixed, expert advice will be provided if a repair is not possible.
A Buy Nothing Market also operates alongside the Repair Lab, allowing participants to drop off or take away items for free, promoting community sharing and reuse.
Activity Details
This free drop-in event runs on multiple dates throughout 2026, from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM. No bookings are required, and service is provided on a first come, first served basis.
Participants are encouraged to stay with their volunteer repairer during the repair to learn new skills and engage in conversation. Only one item can be repaired at a time per person to ensure fair access for all attendees.
Please note that some items may be beyond the volunteers' skillset, and the event cannot guarantee successful repairs. Dogs are not permitted at the event.
