SARI is an evocative exhibition that invites you to delve into the rich traditions and personal expression embodied in the Sari garment. Created by Australian-Indian artist Anjum Olmo, this exhibition beautifully weaves together themes of nostalgia, cultural identity, and the artist’s connection to the Blue Mountains. It offers a heartfelt exploration of balancing South Asian and Australian cultural influences.
Visitors will experience a deeply personal and artistic journey through Olmo’s work, which reflects her reconciliation of heritage and contemporary identity. The exhibition showcases the expansive nature of the Sari, highlighting its cultural significance and artistic potential.
Interactive workshops enhance the experience, including a stencil printing session where participants transform second-hand saris using native Australian plant designs, and a collaborative embroidery drop-in session to continue embellishing the artwork.
The exhibition runs from Sunday 23 August to Sunday 6 September 2026, with daily opening hours from 11:00 to 15:00. Key workshop dates include:
