Engage your toddler with interactive storytelling about nature and Country at Melville EcoHub.

What to Expect

Let your toddler move and play as they listen to Alton's captivating stories about Country and the natural world around us. This outdoor, active yarning time encourages children aged 2 to 4 years to learn language, dance, and explore through nature-themed storytelling.

Families are invited to stay after the session to enjoy the nature play area, which offers plenty of opportunities for messy play. Please dress children in outdoor clothing and enclosed shoes to ensure they are comfortable and safe.

An alternate indoor space will be available in case of wet weather, with indoor activities provided to keep the fun going.

Activity Details

This event lasts for one hour and is designed as an informal early learning environment. Children should be able to sit calmly when asked and follow the facilitator's instructions to get the most out of the experience.

Parents and caregivers are responsible for supervising their children at all times and ensuring their behaviour does not disrupt others. Quiet spaces will be available for those who need a break.

Sessions run in all weather conditions, so bring wet weather gear, hats, sunscreen, a drink bottle, and morning tea for your child.

Location and Access

The event takes place at the Ngoolark Space, an outdoor amphitheatre at Melville EcoHub, with activities also on trails within the reserve. In hot or wet weather, the session moves indoors.

EcoHub is located at 555 Leach Highway, Winthrop, within Piney Lakes Reserve. Accessible parking is available at the front, and the venue has ramps and accessible toilets.

Public transport is recommended, with a bus stop just a 2-minute walk away serving multiple routes.
