This engaging and practical workshop offers parents and community members essential skills to recognise and respond to signs of suicide risk. Delivered by Wesley LifeForce in partnership with the Mitchell Suicide Prevention Network, this session empowers you to provide compassionate support when it matters most.
You will participate in an interactive, evidence-based workshop designed to build your confidence in recognising when someone may be at risk of suicide. The session covers how to start safe conversations, use appropriate language, and apply active listening techniques. Lunch is provided to keep you refreshed.
The workshop runs for four and a half hours, from 10:00 to 14:30. It includes practical tools and strategies for supporting someone in distress, understanding risk and protective factors, and connecting individuals with appropriate support services. This is a free community event, but bookings are essential.
The training takes place at the Broadford Living and Learning Centre, located at 156-158 High Street, Broadford VIC. The venue is accessible and situated in a central location within Broadford, making it easy to reach by car or public transport.
This workshop is suitable for adults who want to support family, friends, or community members. It is especially valuable for parents of school-aged children seeking to enhance their understanding of mental health and suicide prevention. Early intervention and safe conversations can save lives.
Attendance is free of charge. To secure your place, bookings are essential and can be made via Eventbrite. For further information or assistance, contact Linda Kearley at Linda.Kearley@wesleymission.org.au.
