Discover the fascinating world of ancient Inca civilization and mythology in this engaging clay workshop designed especially for teens. Participants will create their own small clay maquettes inspired by powerful Incan gods, legends, and sacred symbols, bringing history to life through art.
Using fun hand-building techniques such as pinching, coiling, and sculpting, young artists will learn to shape expressive miniature figures full of personality and imagination. Whether following guided inspiration or inventing their own mythical characters, teens will enjoy a creative journey into ancient South American art.
This workshop encourages storytelling, artistic exploration, and hands-on learning in a supportive studio environment, making it perfect for all skill levels.
The workshop runs from 9:30am to 4:15pm with supervised morning and afternoon tea breaks, plus a lunch break for full-day attendees. Breaks are usually held outside in the beautiful garden, weather permitting.
Participants will experiment with texture, carving, and decorative surface techniques to give their sculptures a unique ancient look. An additional $8 fee applies for glazing and firing the clay works, which must be collected within 4 weeks of completion.
Please note that a waiver is required if teens are coming and going independently, granting permission for them to leave at the end of the class.
The workshop is held at Waverley Woollahra Art School, located at 138 Bondi Rd, Bondi NSW 2026. The venue offers a welcoming and inspiring studio space with a lovely garden area for breaks.
The school is easily accessible and provides a safe environment for teens to explore their creativity under expert guidance.
To reduce unclaimed works and promote sustainability, all pottery must be collected within 4 weeks after completion. Items left beyond this period may be repurposed, sold for fundraising, or disposed of.
The school takes no responsibility for loss or breakage of artworks. Parents should ensure that their teens understand the collection policy.
Supervision is provided during breaks, and the workshop is designed to build confidence and develop sculpting skills in a fun, educational setting.
The cost for the full-day workshop is $160 per child. An optional $8 fee applies for glazing and firing the clay pieces.
Bookings can be made through the Waverley Woollahra Art School website or by contacting the school directly. Early booking is recommended as spaces are limited.
This workshop offers excellent value for a full day of creative learning and hands-on fun inspired by ancient culture.
