What to Expect
Dive into a world of creativity and discovery with the Test and Tinker Lab, a fun and open-ended STEAM session designed for children aged 5 and up. This drop-in event encourages young minds to explore, build, and experiment with a variety of materials to create their own unique machines. There’s no right or wrong way to participate—just endless tinkering and testing.
Children will have the freedom to design and construct using provided resources, fostering problem-solving skills and imaginative thinking. It’s a perfect opportunity for parents to see their kids engage in hands-on learning while having a blast.
The session is relaxed and welcoming, allowing families to drop in at their convenience during the scheduled time. Accompanying adults are asked to remain in the library to support their children’s creative journey.
Activity Details
This event runs on 14 April 2026 from 11:00 to 13:00 at the Stirling Library. It is a drop-in format, so no tickets are required, though during busy times there may be a short wait. The activity is suitable for children aged 5 years and older.
Participants will have access to a range of materials to build and experiment with, encouraging STEM learning through play. The session is designed to be flexible and child-led, promoting curiosity and hands-on engagement.
Please note that accompanying adults must stay in the library during the session. If you are unable to attend, please call the library to free up your spot for others on the waitlist.

Important Information
Please be aware that on days with a Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating for the Mt Lofty Ranges, all Adelaide Hills Council Library branches, including Stirling Library, will be closed and events cancelled without notice. Similar closures apply for Extreme 2 (75+) Fire Danger Ratings.
Events may be subject to cancellation or rescheduling due to fire danger conditions. Any payments made for events will be reimbursed or the event rescheduled accordingly.

Booking and Prices
This is a free drop-in event with no need for advance booking. However, during busy periods, there may be a short wait to participate.
If you cannot attend, please call the library at 08 8408 0400 to release your spot for others on the waitlist. This helps ensure as many children as possible can enjoy the session.
