Step into one of Australia's most intriguing local mysteries as Westall Library commemorates the 60th anniversary of the Westall UFO sighting. This event invites families and curious minds to explore firsthand accounts and expert insights into the mysterious event that captivated dozens of students and teachers in 1966.
Attendees will experience a dynamic panel discussion featuring witnesses and researchers, including Shane Ryan, the lead investigator behind the documentary Westall ’66: A Suburban UFO Mystery. This is a rare chance to hear about the incident, related UFO sightings, and upcoming research directly from those deeply involved.
The event also includes a Recording Studio Oral History Demonstration, encouraging community members to preserve their own stories, making this a truly interactive and memorable experience for parents and children alike.
The program runs from 14:00 to 17:00 on Sunday, 12 April 2026, at Westall Library. It features:
- A panel discussion and interactive Q&A with witnesses and researchers
- A presentation by Shane Ryan on his research, documentary, and forthcoming book
- An oral history demonstration guiding attendees on recording personal histories
Due to high demand, the event is also livestreamed from 14:00 to 16:30, allowing families to join from home if they prefer.
