The Women in Small Business Empowerment Project is designed to inspire and equip women from migrant, refugee, and asylum-seeker backgrounds with the skills and confidence needed to thrive in entrepreneurship. This free program offers a supportive environment where participants can build business skills, access mentoring, and connect with valuable networks.
What to Expect
Participants will engage in a comprehensive 10-week journey that includes skill-building workshops, confidence strengthening activities, and opportunities to connect with mentors and local business networks. The program is tailored to address the unique challenges faced by women from diverse backgrounds and aims to empower them to take the next step in their business ventures.
Activity Details
The program runs weekly on Thursdays from 10:00 to 14:30, with a lunch break included. Each session is packed with practical learning, interactive discussions, and networking opportunities. The supportive setting encourages sharing experiences and gaining insights from peers and experts alike.
Location and Access
Sessions are held at the Fawkner Meeting Room, located next to Fawkner Community Hall at 77 Jukes Rd, Fawkner. The venue is accessible and welcoming, providing a comfortable space for learning and collaboration.

This project is specifically for women from migrant, refugee, and asylum-seeker backgrounds interested in small business. Participation is free, but spaces may be limited, so early registration is encouraged. The program is delivered in partnership with Sisterworks and supported by Merri-bek City Council.
