Step into Heart Week with a gentle 30-minute walk designed to refresh your body and mind. This event is perfect for adults looking to connect with others while focusing on heart health and wellness. After the walk, enjoy a welcoming session with special guest speakers who will share valuable insights on women’s wellbeing and heart health.
The walk starts and finishes at the Holdfast Bay Community Centre, followed by free refreshments at the Chatty Cafe. You’ll hear from Rachel Nelson, the Heart Foundation Walking Program Officer, and Sadie Goddard Wrighton, organiser of the Breast Friend Project walking group and a certified health coach.
This is a supportive community event offering a warm environment to discuss heart health, share experiences, and learn practical tips to keep your heart healthy.
The event begins at 9:30am with a relaxed walk meeting on the deck of the Holdfast Bay Community Centre. The walk lasts approximately 30 minutes, suitable for all fitness levels. After the walk, participants are invited to Activity Room 1 at 10:30am for the guest speaker presentations.
The session includes:
- A talk by Rachel Nelson from the Heart Foundation
- Insights from Sadie Goddard Wrighton about the Breast Friend Project and women’s wellness
- Free refreshments to refuel and mingle
This event is free of charge and open to adults interested in heart health and community connection.
The walk and talk take place at the Holdfast Bay Community Centre, located at 51 King George Avenue, Hove SA, Australia. The meeting point for the walk is on the centre’s deck at 9:30am. If you prefer to join only the talk, meet in Activity Room 1 at 10:30am.
The venue is easily accessible by car and public transport, with parking nearby. The community centre offers a friendly and comfortable environment suitable for all participants.
Heart Week runs from 4–10 May and raises awareness about heart health in Australia. This event highlights the importance of knowing your heart health risks and encourages participants to see their GP for a Heart Health Check.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. The walk is gentle but please consider your own health and consult your doctor if needed.
